While certainly not an expert with depth finders, I've started noticing them attached to float tubes in recent years by early adopters. I'm thinking that the technology and design may be progressing to the point that I may be able to figure-out how to install one on my float tube and find it useful on the water. Given the necessary design trade-offs between the information the depth finder provides, the quality of the display, the size and weight of the battery, the lenght of time battery can power the device, etc., have you found a depth finder and battery combo that you find useful and easy to use in a float tube?
In addition, while I'm completely unfamiliar with the side view function, it seems like it might have the potential to be very useful while float tubing. If you have experience using this function, please share the advantages and disadvantages.
