Recently outings have been on lakes and one new member, Rod, is always there before us catching fish. It was suggested by our president he do a presentation and share info on his skill set. That can still happen but I suggest we also get member feedback on fishing tips. May it be lake, river or salt. I'll start this off and I expect everybody has a few tips to share as well.
Lake: Fish will others who commonly catch more fish than you.
Then closely observe how they fish and what they use. Also ask questions if a hot fly; pattern, size/color, depth and retrieve. Club members always more likely to share good info vs a stranger.
I suppose another angle on this tip is be flexible and don't always fish the same way.
Great idea!!
I was secretly trying to spy on Rod's technique from afar but clearly I couldn't get enough intel! He's a Master and I for one wish he would share his skills with the rest of us losers. Same with Phil Oliver. He's another lake Maestro. Share your stuff fellas.
As a trade-off, I'll share my crappie catching skills. Crappie - Mother Nature's freshwater halibut.
