If you like fishing little lakes with easy acces, try Knuppenburg Lake between MM 149 and 150 heading east. There’s a nice wide parking area just before the lake and you can either walk the road along the guardrail to the east side of the lake and fish from shore on the gravel bar of the inlet creek. You can also launch a belly boat or small pontoon boat there. There’s also a nice spot to launch either style boat just as you start along the guardrail. The lake has browns, bows and Brookies in the 7-12” range. I fished a 3-weight 7’ floating line with a green woolly bigger and caught all three species yesterday. The lake is very clear in spots and you can see the fish swim in 12’ of water and also see the hatch rising from the bottom and coming up. So dry fly action is a possibility. The stream current in the lake is good to work. The only place that didn’t seem to have any action was the very south end where you can hear another creek dropping in. I should mention the lake is very, very cold. So wet wade or wet kick at your own comfort level.
