Just like at our club meetings. Where have you been fishing this month? I know several of few fish more than me so I hope to get your reports here as well may it be lakes, salt or rivers.
All local lakes...
May 7 hit my home lake, Kistap, for a couple hours. Very windy, dropped anchor but skunked.
May 8, back to Kitsap to fix that skunk. Fished (montana leech & blk/grn boob) 2 hours, 2 fish.
May 15, Nahwatzel (1st time), fished 6 hrs, blk/grn boob 8 fish one was nice 3lb, 2 Mt leech 2 fish.
May 19, Deveraux, (PSFF event with 7 members) For me 8 hours on water. Too many fish to keep count and all deveraux dinks.
May 26, Spencer, (PSFF event, 3 members). A long day and slow day catching for me. 4 fish.
Plus I lost an oar to lake bottom. Before you say " I'm a one oar in the water" type of guy. Rod Sand gave me an oar for the day. Good karma for Rod for his fishing results that day. Plus he caught a derby fish. I hope he wins a big prize.
May 29, Lost lake (1st time), good results 08:00 - 10:00, 2 big fish (1 to net). Jet ski's @ noon, my exit at 1:00.
Here is my input;
May 5, Opening Day, went to Wye Lake with Doug Post. Caught plenty of trout and Doug caught plenty more than me!
May 10, My 72nd birthday, hit local Lake Crescent in Gig Harbor and had the night of my life with hungry 12" crappie.
May 19, Lake Devereaux, great turnout of PSFF members and plenty of trout to go around. Even caught my first ever Yellow Perch.
May 26, visited Skookumchuck River with former PSFF member Jay Paulson. Had lots of topwater action with Jay's signature fly the "Titanic Slider"
May 5th and a different kind of "fishing"! Fed Kim and myself for a week! Also went to the green river but mostly got some good spey practice in!
Went to Nawahtzel one day. Kind of slow and smaller fish then my last time there in March. Went to Mineral Lake and that was slow and small fish. Also tried Clear Lake in the Bald hills with Teri and that was slow and small fish. So slow and small is what I’ve figured out in May. I did hit lakes Tapp this past Wednesday after work for smallmouth and landed one, lost one and missed one on poppers.
Finally getting around to writing my fishing for May,
went to Spencer opening day,(thank you Mr.Inslee)
I didn’t catch nothing.This was may 5th
May 6th went to Rapjohn landed 6 all on choronomids
May 13 went to Nahwatzel, caught one nice slab, also some 12 to 15 inchers
May 15 met up with Jim for a second round caught another nice slab on choronomids and more 12 to 15 inches.
May19 met up with club members lots and lots of small fish, best part of the trip,Jim was in the process of landing one, lost it to a eagle he had no clue that eagle was coming.
Cady, caught 2 slabs one was 24 one was 21” nice fish, well worth the trip.
Gibbs lake, caught 2 trout 2 perch nice size they went 15”trout were 16”
Dog lake lots and lots of bookies,a few rainbow, all small, but fun just the same all on choronomids.
Spencer, met up with club members, good day I even caught a derby fish, worth 40.00.Also caught a nice slab plus some smaller ones.
Leach Lake, gate was still closed, walked in,nice warm day fish rising all over, they were taking big black ants off the top,as it would happen I didn’t have none, but did really good on choronomid.
I know I forgot some but that’s the way it goes when you don’t write things down, will do better next month.
Hey Rod, We need you to teach a class on lake secrets. You do very well each time you go out. Would you be interested in doing that?
We would really appreciate that!
