I spent a long cup of coffee on a bench at Dash Pt. this morning observing for signs of the Pink Salmon run. It was 60 degrees with a light breeze from the northeast; calm waters on an incoming tide almost full. There were about a dozen gear fishermen slinging buzz bombs and four or five kayaks out beyond the dock. I saw one fish brought in by one of the kayaks. It looked to be about 24" with a slight hump (male fish). The fellow said the fish were everywhere but not biting anything. He was using a dark fink hoochie commonly used by the gear fishers. Seems like it is still a few days before the run starts in earnest so our outing on the 19th might be very productive as well as a lot of fun. I will continue to observe until I see some action and will keep you all posted.
