Dosewallups doesn’t disappoint
Spent the last three evenings fishing the river next to the state park. The river changed quite a bit on the upper park area. Fewer log jams and more cobbled dry gravel beds. Above the 101 bridge the best I could coax to eating a dry was a pretty 9" cutthroat. Below the bridge I lost a 19" due to a piss-poor knot that I knew was piss-poor when I tied it and a 16" that was strong and heading to a stump upstream so I tried to force it and pulled the hook out. Otherwise, the last evening I managed to hook four in the 13-16" range and landed two on an indicator rig. Dries were good, but a submerged dry and nymphing hooked the bigger ones. The salmon (pinks) are starting to run and there were dozens in the bottom hole.
Also managed to find a great lobster mushroom, Teri saw a black bear, the elk were around, I saw a mink and a Raccoon the last evening. Plus we dug four limits of clams including a few cockles and horse clams. What a great State Park.

Hi Bryan, Those are some nice trout! I haven't fished the Dosewallups yet but you've got me curious. Thanks for sharing. 😎 Brad Bates
