Johns Creek Estuary Report
This turned out to be one of our biggest turnouts of the year, with 14 PSFF anglers showing up for Chum salmon. I just wish the Chum had showed up as well.
Because of the unexpectedly high club turnout, especially for a fishery location with space constraints, I decided to add an extra day (Thursday, Nov. 9) and split up the party into two groups of 6-7 anglers. Everyone was so nice about it, letting me know which day worked best for them.
Whenever the catching part of an outing's equation suffers, I like to think, variously, well:
"At least the weather was good" (it rained, but ... it didn't drive the salmon run), or ...
"Everyone seemed to have a great time" (it seemed like they did, but ... for some, it was a long way to drive with no fish to show for it), or ...
"The pre-fishing breakfast/lunch was good" (we had some interesting conversations, but ... the restaurant was crowded and we were a little late for the tide), or ...
"I think some of us learned some things about the fishery" (I know I did).
Next time, I think I might plan the fishing for a low tide in good weather two days after a hard rain. Thanks to member Curt Dorn for that voice of experience.
See, we can always count on each other to make our outings something special!

Quote a "bad day fishing is better then a good day at work" Johns Creek is a teasure and I had a Great time, didn't loose any flies and made a fair number of cast that were magnificent, and had a good lunch with members who know more then I of these waters. Thanks Dave
