Low and Slow: My Intro to Rattlesnake Lake

Tess and I went to Rattlesnake today where we met up with Penny Mabie. The lake was extremely low. Much of the big stumps, normally submerged, were well on shore. It was a long haul to the water. I lot of rocks and sticky mud to get through. Surface water temp was 37; air was in the low 40s. I wasn’t spotting many fish on my fish finder.

I landed one 12-inch rainbow on a black bunny leech with an orange bead. Penny netted three, 12, 14 and 16 inches (she caught one there the other day that was 18 inches). Tess got skunked, which is unusual for her on lakes.

Still, it was good to get out. Hope to see you at the holiday party tomorrow evening (6 p.m. Thursday at Tower Lanes).
