In January 2026, I will be teaching a beginning fly tying class. I have attached the first lesson plan. Take a look at to see if you want to come to this class. I can only teach 6 student at one time. You will need to buy some material for the class, depending on what you currently have.

I just looked at Craig List and individual is sell tying material which look good, two vises which are old and tools with a case. The vises are not rotary and clamp on a table or tying station. Craig Morgan made one out of ply wood and it work very well. Take a look, just type in fly tying.

Beginning Fly Tying – Again next year, we will be holding a beginning fly tying course.  Starting January 10^th, for four weeks, we will meet in the small room at Tower Lanes from 9:00-11:30AM,.  Mike Trask will systematically take beginners through the gratifying process of creating your own flies.  Mike is an exceptional tyer and teacher, is well organized, and knows what patterns work.  Even those of us who have been at this for a while can improve our methods with this course.  Check out his posts on the fly tying section of the forum.  If you would like to sign up, contact Rob Jensen.

I tied my first Baetis Fly and that was an eye opener. Not allot of material but allot tying technic. I hoping to tie about twenty of these but I might go nuts before am finished.
